My Bachelor’s Final Project’s theme was “The Unification of Italy” which happened in 1861. I choose some pictures from 1861, 1911 and 1961 documenting Milan life, Palermo life and italian transportation life. These two poles, Milan and Palermo, in the north and in the south of Italy, conneceted by the improving different ways of transport, that culturally helped the italian unification, represented for me the Unification of Italy.
I chose the shape of the Enrico Forlanini’s airship as main line shape for garments and the typical sicilian laces as inspiration for decorations and prints. I selected, then, a representative italian brand for which travelling has always been a source of inspiration: Prada. I find very interesting how Prada "Linea Rossa" mixes city garments and sportswear and so I decided to develop a sporty inspiration toward city garments.
