A little something to celebrate the motherload of effortless and unapologetic machismo — Darth Vader. I grew up seeing the world around me losing their collective minds over the cultural phenomenon that was, and still is in spite recent changes in management, Star Wars. However, possibly because I ended up watching the original series way into my 20s, I found myself not quite understanding the hype. The size of the bomb and the impact crater left by it didn't seem to add up. Years later, after having observed the franchise, I realised that it seems to have inadvertently triggered something deep within our evolutionary history in a significant way — memetics. While tons of things can be attributed with having becoming memes Star Wars was one of the first bits of fiction, after decades, that brought people together around the world to form a new, and substantial, tribe. A new kind of kinship that, thanks to the technological advances of our times, overcame the barriers of geography at a phenomenal pace; and Vader had a key part to play in it. The simplicity of his overall design, paired by an ominous background score made up of a very limited set of keys, lent to a killer combination; iconic to this day.
With Star Wars now being part of Disney he's forever a denizen of the Empire. Dark Side or not I leave that to you. Hence, the subtle visual reference to Darth Vader now being part of the House of Mouse — do you see the Mickey ears?
