The Fallen Soldier

                                                    The Fallen Soldier
The Death of Frank Garcia a WWll Veteran.
re-created cinematic memories of his granddaughter
A normal day of play, can turn into a memory of pain.
Materials Used: Skeleton, red long sleeve, and a stuffed dog. Blanket background and yellow fog light.

The dog is a representation of a child's innocence. It is also to represent a children's book that was buried with frank Garcia about a puppy, in which he often read to his grand daughter.

The yellow light is to show brightness within the scene to allow for the darkness of the next.

Red long sleeve/Skeleton. The shirt was used to hide the skeletons frame. Subject was suppose to be childlike, and lack of subject required al alternative route which is the skeleton itself.
Here the news of the great grandfathers death is given, causing the once yellow light to sadden to a blue tone. The puppy is no longer held so tightly as innocence as been lost
The Clock as struck and time has stopped. Memories are fleeting.
Materials Used: Bowl of water, Hand, Pocket watch, running sink water
Holding the pocket watch, and using the stream of water behind the hand, a quick submergence will cause the bubbles to flare. The clock represents the life of frank Garcia being stopped, and the bubbles are the fleeting memories.
Often times when the death of a loved one is heard, its like the world has frozen over, and that is also what can be taken from this.
The time of the funeral has begun
In the distance you can see cars lined up and a funeral commencing. This is not the actual funeral of frank Garcia however this is the graveyard in which he rests.

The image purposely has a high exposure as memories can be blurred with confusion and emotion which is what was used here.
                                                        The three-volley salute
Materials Used: Nerf rifle painted brown with gold leaf flakes. Smoke Machine, Two flags, and a black background.

The Three Volley Salute, is preformed during funerals for ww2 vets. It consists of the firing of three or more shots commemorate the fallen.

The gun is not exact as its a nerf gun, and ww2 is written on it with a sharpie marker. The aesthetic of this photo was to capture the fallen commemorate, without having access to the actual time it happened.  Smoke represents the firing, rifle represents the time served, and the flags as respect to the country fought for.
                                                  Folding of Flag Ceremony
Materials: Small flag folded, hands of the daughter of frank Garcia, with a small light behind them.
During the flag ceremony, an American flag is folded to honor the fallen, and its given to the relative closest to the fallen solider. In this case it was his daughter.
