My first assignment for the module 'The Art of Character Development in Illustration' was a project titled 'Know Thyself'. We had to create a character based on ourself and put them in a setting that told a story. I struggled with this assignment, as drawing people is my weakest skill. I sketched some concepts of imagining myself in different scenarios that I enjoy being in. I settled on the idea of walking through an outdoor market after purchasing a cactus plant (I love cacti!). I wanted to add fruit and vegetables to the market stalls but that got too overwhelming and I was under time pressure so I settled with just having cactus plants on the table. In the end, I wasn't overly happy with how it turned out but it is growing on me!
