"I was inspired by the topic while designing the layout for this feature. The article is about John Becker, a luthier who is famous for his skills in repairing and unlocking the sound of a Stradivarius. He is trusted by the most celebrated violinists with their unique and valuable eighteenth-century instruments. The story, written for Chicago Magazine, sets the mood for the discussion about art, history, and antiques- something that requires careful attitude and respect.
For my creative concept, I thought about the Gutenberg Bible and styled it like an ancient book to convey the mood of history, art, and value. I opted for an ancient paper background and chose the Paganini typeface for the headings, which matches my creative concept.
To be true to my art direction, I created illustrations for the article and kept the color palette basic, using colors that were used in the early age of publishing."
It was my school project for Editorial design class.
