Katya Solodina's series of paintings explores the concept that reality can often be mundane and unexciting, but even the most fantastical creations are rooted in elements of reality. Through this series the artist sends reality for a walk of shame. 

The artist uses every part of our visual culture and throws them in a singularity. The colors she uses rhyme with the Matisse colors, who asked his assistants to “buy only the most joyful gouache.” 

By kaleidoscopically reinventing the reality, Katya flops the visual habits on its head, daring viewers to see the beauty in the mundane and the truth in the fantastical.
