Whether you're in the west like the U.S, or you're in the east like China, virtually every culture has their own mythological creatures of sorts. With each of them having their own unique characteristics and abilities (and sometimes even sharing similarities between cultures), it is never not entertaining to just go through and read about their origin/backstories. This is especially evident now since they are portrayed in all sorts of different media such as video games, movies, books, etc. What I try to accomplish with this project is to show interesting facts about each of the most popular mythical creature in each region, with each fact/statistic being unique and different from each other.
Infographic Proposal - Moodboard
I decided to do my mood boards on the topics of "mythical creatures" and "gods/deities" from around the world for my infographic proposals. Included in the mood boards are examples of other infographics, additional illustration/design pieces, inspirational type, and lastly, a color palette.
Infographic Proposal - Data Mood Board
These mood boards focuses more on the data side of the two topics such as tables, bars, percentages, etc. When researching for both of these topics, I had come to a realization that there isn't really much of actual "data" to be found when it comes to mythical creations but more so descriptions and fun fact about them instead. Additionally, data regarding gods/deities are almost non-existent as most of them deal with the concept of religion, which isn't what I was exactly looking for. So when deciding which one I wanted to do, I ultimately decided to go with the mythical creatures.
Infographic Storyboard
For my storyboard, I decided to use greyscale versions of the seven regions and black silhouettes for each of the most popular creatures for each of the corresponding region. Each creature is also accompanied with a short description of their physical features and abilities. I also kind of started with the facts/statistics for each creature, beginning with the ones from America. And since I hadn't thought ways to do it for the other creatures yet, placeholders were put in place until I could work on it more later on.
Infographic First Finish: Half
When doing the first half of the infographic, I color coded each region with their own colors (NA - Red, SA - Yellow, Europe - Blue). In this case, both the region and facts/stats are made with the the same color so that the viewer can differentiate each section without using actual, visible dividers such as lines. Additionally, I also added color and fun facts for both South Africa and Europe as well.
Infographic First Finish: Full
Added color and fun facts for the rest of the regions while also changing the font of the title to make it have a more "mythical" feeling to it from others feedback. A blue border and change of color was also added for the title to make it pop/stand out more. Lastly, a source section is added at the very bottom for all the stats/facts used in the infographic.
Infographic Final
For my final version of my infographic, I have made a few small changes based off the feedback I got from others:

-made all the text lined up for the "fun fact" section of the Made De Aguas
-used bulletin points for the "fun fact" section of the Made De Aguas instead of dashes as it not only looks better but also separates each point better as well
-removed the blue border from both the title and sources section as it's "a bit much"
-made the timeline of the Namibian Flying Snake bigger and moved to it to the side region instead of below it
-made the fun fact for the Chinese Dragon bigger and shifted the dragon silhouette on top of the description
