Book Jacket Redesign

Project Scope:
Redesign three book jackets, either ones that already exist as a trilogy, or have similar threads between them. Use the design skills from previous projects to create a strong concept and execution. There must be a 3D element that relates in some form to the design concept.
Inspiration:
I was inspired heavily by Japanese patterns and elements, as this book was originally written in Japanese. I also drew from hand-drawn elements, including type and illustrations. These narratives delicately pull at the strings of your emotions, serving as reminders to cherish the present moment. In crafting the designs, I aimed to encapsulate the essence of imperfection, mirroring the chaotic, intricate lives of those seeking to transcend time. My aspiration was to honor the profound beauty of these remarkable books. The process of sketching and utilizing genuine collages played back to the idea of chaotic lives. I decided to use embroidery as my 3D element, as it symbolizes the weave between two times, as well as pieces coming together. This relates back to each of the four stories in each book.
