These monoprints were made by inking a printing plate and using Cypress, Locust, and Laurel leaves to remove ink, creating a unique subtractive image. Mono, meaning one, produces a one-of-a-kind print by removing ink during the initial inking.
For the Solstice Cyanotypes, I gathered strong and beautiful branches and leaves perfect for monoprinting, each with shamanic meaning and revered for its energies and capabilities. These serve well as one-of-a-kind altar cards or gifts. Additionally, I created a layered piece with the Cypress, incorporating the Nordic Web of Wyrd rune recently carved from lino for a fabric project.
