Safety Precautions for Weightlifting

Lifting weights without warming up can lead to significant injuries and muscle cramping. Various warmup exercises such as fast walking, jogging, or running can prepare the body for weightlifting by ramping up the heart rate. Start the warmup exercises slowly and gradually increase intensity to avoid strain or injury.

Next, avoid dropping weights directly onto the floor. This practice startles other gym members and poses safety risks as weights can roll and become hazards. After lifting dumbbells, barbells, or weight plates, bend the knees slightly, engage the abdominal muscles, and keep the weights close to the body while gently returning them to the racks.

Lastly, avoid overstressing the muscles. Individuals should pick weight loads that challenge them but do not lead to injury.
