Sherlock
BBC Series - Poster Art
The BBC Series that's taken the world by storm, and it's no wonder, based on the renowned works of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle and catapulted into the 21st century it's a series unlike any of it's kind. Engrossed in satire, wit, and enticing story telling the series is steeped in drama and mystery. With that in mind I set about developing a poster that would convey the overall tone of the series.
The concept for the poster was to use dark tones, silhouettes and vibrant contrasting colours. Much of the backdrop are key London landmarks and the sky with orange-blue tones features the U.K. flag dropped out in behind and soft overlays of Sherlock and Watson can be found in the skyline.
The main focus however is with the principal characters Sherlock and Watson. The type chosen is rough and grungy with a cityscape throughout the baseline. The paint spatter is reminiscent of a crime scene and further enhances the grungy styling of the poster. Rendered completely in Illustrator as a scalable vector image.
