Main focus in this project was to use sound to translate two important things about this robot.
First, I used sound to enhance its 8-bit interface. This helped me to reflect its vintage look and add to the 8-bit visual aesthetic.
For this, I used more 8-bit, glitchy UI sounds instead of high tech sci-fi sounds. I also used effects to create an illusion of those UI sounds coming out from the tiny speaker we can see on the side of the robot.
Second, I wanted to convey how cute and fun this robot is. For this, I almost stripped away usual steps I would use for a creature walking.
Instead, I used just grass rustles to convey that this robot is so light it barely makes an audible impact on the ground.
