Project:
This piece was created outside of class as a personal project for my father. It represents my artistic version of his 1964-1/2 Mustang that he had growing up. I wanted to show the realistic side through details in the rust and reflections while color to create a unique interpretation of his car.
Materials: 18"x24" Canvas, Watercolor Paint
How does this show attention to detail?
Through the use of meticulous layers within watercolor, I was able to create semi-realistic details while still having an abstract look. Watercolor can be very difficult to control due to its fluid nature, and once a color is placed, it cannot be removed or painted over. By having to think through each brush stroke I put down, I was able to more easily pay attention to small parts such as the rust and colorful reflections. Using these tools as well as considering contrast and perspective I was able to produce a successful piece.
