THE FUNKENSONNTAG
It is an old tradition in the western Bavarian Alps to drive out the winter with a big fire at the Sunday after the end of carnival. The fires are called „Funken" and so this Sunday is called the „Funkensonntag". The people meet and gather round the fireplace, no speeches held (!), not from the mayor, not from the pastor – no politics – just FUN !!!
