Ravie Tournament Round 1
This was my entry for round one of the second Ravie.co animation tournament. The prompt was "Enigma," and I had the idea almost immediately after the announcement. I wanted to flip the script of that moment when you step in or experience gooey, gross, slime. There's a sort of primal mystery to it, like an opposing force. So the story is something like this goo character finds the remnants of a human inside a failed cryogenic chamber and then hilarity ensues.

Aside from the prompt itself, contestants had to use the effect CC Blobylize prominently in their animation. Of course, I used it for the bubbles coming up from the chamber.

This was the first time I'd used the Rubberhose 3 plugin. I purchased it specifically for this because I wanted to make the body a hose to get that nice stretchiness. I pinned a Joysticks n Sliders rig to the body. This was by far the most limbs I've ever had on a rig. All the limbs and even the slime at the end are rigged with Rubberhose 3.

In the end, I didn't advance to the next round of the tournament. It was close in score, but my idea just didn't break through. Initially I had a hunch that the "enigma" piece was a bit too cryptic, but once something sticks in my brain I sometimes have to see it through.
