Wind, Sand and Stars
Inspired by a reading of the memoir written by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry, as well as some of my own night flights.
Night flying provides time for some beautiful introspection during it's slower moments... being a military helicopter pilot, you spend a lot of time flying with night vision goggles strapped to your face, providing a view of the stars few will ever get to experience.
When you're not on mission, getting the opportunity to stare up at the vastness of the stars, their light magnified by the NVG's, you start to realize just how small we are under the ancient light of these churning giants of burning gas...
