Self-esteem Booklet

Client: (Passion Project)
Location: Vancouver, Canada

Role: Sole Designer

The Self-esteem Booklet is a passion project driven by personal experiences and a general concern for public mental health. The project aims to provide key insights into self-esteem and how to improve it for those most vulnerable to self-esteem issues, which studies suggest are aged 11-15, members of a minority and have familial issues.

The booklets were later printed and distributed amongst Vancouver community centres.
To be accessible and appealing to a wide range of audiences, I designed the illustration to be warm, approachable and most importantly inclusive; they do not suggest a particular gender, race or age, and thus everyone can feel that this booklet is for them.
When folded the booklet is only 4.25 inches wide and 5.5 inches tall. It’s designed to fit into smaller hands and pockets easily, and the size also lends it a cute and approachable tone.

The booklet is also designed to have a cheap print cost for wide distribution. It’s readable and equally appealing in black and white, uses small stocks and is bound with staples.
