原住民的器物百百種，但以生活上來說，刀子是非常古老的存在，在其他器物被造出來之前，所有的切割物品、食物、狩獵都用的到刀子，在還沒有鋼材之前，用最原始的用石頭來當刀子，可見刀子的歷史是比其他器物長的。
卑南族的刀是直刀型式，刀柄的部份不同於其他族群，是直筒形的刀柄，刀鞘也是屬於蛇型刀鞘，而卑南族的禮刀是全台各族刀具中，用色最豐富、彩繪工藝最好的族群，以此特色來創作。

The knives of the Pinuyumayan tribe are of the straight blade type, with a handle distinct from other ethnic groups. It features a straight cylindrical handle and a sheath resembling a snake. Among all the indigenous knives in Taiwan, those of the Pinuyumayan tribe stand out for their vibrant colors and exceptional painted craftsmanship, making them unique in the creation of these tools.
