Freyr by TeamSadShoe

Freyr is a mobile game which utilises weather control as its main mechanic. The game was created by myself a programmer, an artist, an audio designer and a producer as part of my first semester on my masters programme.
In this vertical slice of the game players can choose between two different types of weather; sun and rain to allow them to carry on through the level and reach their goal. Players change the weather through swiping the screen in the sky area left or right to cycle through the weather types. Weather change is visualised through the sky’s artwork changing and a different weather icon appearing  on screen to allow players to use their different weather control powers.
Players can use the rain power to allow objects to grow or fill in drained lakes to allow safe passage to the other side of the level. By dragging the rain cloud icon onto the plant or lake in this case it allows the icon to interact with its environment therefore allowing the player to use this active power.
The second power in this game is sunlight. Like the rain cloud players drag the sun, in this case its ray of light onto plants within the game to allow flowers to bloom and make a path through the thorns. Players are asked to use a combination of both powers at certain points in the game to allow both flower growth and bloom to reach higher areas.
I was the only designer on this project so I was in charge of the games overall design which included:

Level Design
Puzzle/Mechanic Design
UI Design
Sound and Music Design Concepts - which was created by our audio designer
Feedback of art style
Character creation
