Digital Article Redesign--Wired

Digital Article Redesign--Wired

This project was to redesign an article published by Wired. The goal was to use typography to communicate the message of the article visually as well as in text.

Style Tiles:
Rather that starting with sketches, this time I started with style explorations. Being able to visualize a style before working on sketches helped me to hone in on the right direction from the beginning. I also experimented with different type settings and created a type guide for myself.

Digital Sketches:
Next I created digital sketches of the first page viewers would see. I knew it had to draw readers in and not be overwhelming with text. I also experimented with effects to create the kind of style or mood I was looking for.

After choosing which above the fold design worked best, I began setting the rest of the article. I set the type and added all the elements I needed. Then I refined it.
After finishing the design for this article in a computer format, I designed the above the fold for a tablet and phone format, as seen at the top.

I'm pleased to share with you my final design!
Thank you!
