Trend was a project in which I had to create fashion illustrations relating to an era, I chose to study the 1920's. My intention for my final outcome was for it to be vintage, decorative, sophisticated, and demonstrates the newly found independence for women in the 1920's. The target audience for my collection was to be young, sophisticated women ages 18-35, highly appreciate of fashion illustration with a historical content. Throughout the trials my inspiration has been an artist called Jessica Durrant, an artist who creates fashion illustration uses ink, varying from a simple monochrome design to vibrant and bright colours. I wanted my piece to show the beauty of women in that particular era who indulged in flapper fashion, decorative jewellery and thrived off their recent acknowledgement and power, yet still complacent behind their emotions.
