Here are two posters made to fit the mood and storyline of the opera Madama Butterfly at Opera Philadelphia

After selecting and researching the opera I wanted to create a poster for, I started to create thumbnail sketches of different ideas, styles, and compilations. Then I created some rough versions of my designs with graphic treatment, and the other as a collage.

After developing the rough versions, it became very clear that I had two strong designs to choose from, so I continued to develop both posters so that I could be sure I submitted the best version of my poster. I became much closer to fruition in terms of figuring out how I wanted the final posters to look. It only took a few overlay effects and some minor adjustments until I got to the final versions of my posters.
