Approach
This project consisted of two pieces, a picture collage, and a black and white illustration. The Rhyming pair of the collage is Fish Kiss, it utilizes the vintage feeling of a collage to create the atmosphere of an old photo, as well as of the absurdity of the men with fish heads to create and the diagonal symmetry to create a more cohesive surreal theme. It was done entirely in Photoshop, things like changes to the lighting and highlights within the collage added there too. The pair of words chosen for the second illustration was Sinister Sister. The use of stark contrast and wobbly lines are added to induce a sense of fear of the character implied to be the "sister", whereas her silhouette is outlined in sharp, bold lines to show a confident and intimidating figure. This is furthered by the decision to put her on the ceiling in the composition, it both adds a contrasting balance, as well as a scary supernatural feeling to the drawing. The line work was mostly done in Procreate, then altered in Photoshop for a higher image quality.
