In this university project I had to make a food packaging prototype which is environmentally friendly and has an afterlife.

My idea was to create a sunflower seed packaging which can be converted into a hangable bird feeder house as an afterlife.

The base is a hexagon cardboard box with a pointy roof cover. I handpainted 6 native birds of my country to represent the kind guests of this small house.

After removing the cover, the hexagon opens like a blooming sunflower.

This picture shows how the folded feeder looks like.

Just the moment after I hang the feeder up, it has already welcomed a tiny guest!
