Inspired by the brilliant minds that came together to create the atomic bombs. This work was designed to look like the mushroom cloud after the atomic bomb went off. Using a dowel rod, wooden platform, and a plastic sphere to create the base and using an LED strip to add light. Cotton was rolled up and compressed and hot glued on to the base. Then using a butane torched I proceed to burn some of the compressed cotton to give it a more rugged and uneven surface. I added another layer of cotton that was more fluffy to give a smoke effect. 

The LEDs make it to where you can choose any color you want as the light source of the explosion, as shown below.
