Greek music is a broad term that covers the music of ancient and modern Greece, as well as different genres and styles. Greek music has a long history that dates back to the ancient times, when it was connected with the gods, the Muses, and various occasions of life. Greek music also has a rich theory and notation that developed from the 6th century BC onwards.

Greek music can be divided into two main parts: Greek traditional music and Byzantine music. Greek traditional music includes the folk songs and music of mainland Greece and islands, which originated in the Byzantine period and were influenced by the refugees from Asia Minor in the 20th century. Byzantine music has more eastern sounds and melodies, and is based on the Byzantine chant and the Orthodox liturgy.
