2005 — This is a poster I designed for my friend Johntrae Williams' movie company. He asked me to design a logo for him, and then to design a couple of posters for him as well.

The logo was done following a sketch he had done, and I added the shine to make it look 3D. All done in Illustrator.

 

I used Gradient Meshes, the first time I'd ever used them for such an involved project.

The logo had several challenging points; the music staff (which also doubled as a paintbrush) looped inside the theatrical masks twice. Also, the masks themselves curved backward so that the inside of the mask could be seen through the eyeholes and mouth. Added to that, the light source was from the upper left, and caused the whole thing to cast a shadow with a spotlight.

 

But the end result turned out well! 3actrical is meant to be a combination of Theatre, Art and Music, all wrapped into one.
