Poster Design: A Showcase of Type in Design Eras
Overview
The purpose of this project was to showcase our knowledge of type history by emulating the method of creating type by hand. This emulation was done by drawing out each letterform on a tablet and each typeface drawn was one of that decade. The assignment required six Instagram posts according to any decade of the 20th Century. Posts were made according to chronological order. The underlying theme of this project is the timelessness of nostalgia.
Process
Below are pictures I used as inspiration. They are from their respected time periods. These periods consist of: 1910s, 1920s, 1950s, 1960s, 1970s, and the 1990s.
