Lantern
Since quite some time, I wanted to do a Japanese style lantern. It's quite a simple design.
The lantern is triangularly shaped and made out of black MDF and paper.
The lantern is composed of two modules: the frame of the lantern and an acrylic support for the candle.
The acrylic support has transparent sides, not only to let the light pass through but to protect the paper from the flame. It can be easily pulled out of the frame. Some "stoppers" retain the part from falling.
As a potential feature, I thought this lantern also as the lamp. Another module, with a light bulb, could placed instead of the candle support, to have two options. It would use the same triangular star shaped base as the candle holder.
As the frame and parts are rather slim, the entirety of the lantern is glued together.
The Japanese character means "Blessing" in English, mostly for style points. There are some lines surrounding the character to add the traditionally flair of paper lantern.
