Obsession
For a lot of people their hobby is more than a passion. Ballroom dancing cap- tured my interest since the dancers have their own understanding of beauty. They live in their own world and their passion becomes an ambition to win. The tournaments turn into an olympic competition in evening attire as the audience cheers the name or the number of its favourite couple.
According to the proficiency level the appearance of the dancers changes dramatically. The training clothes transform into shining ballroom dresses and evening suits. The dancers bronze their white skin within minutes and create extraordinary hairstyles by using tonnes of hairspray. After the com- petition the dancers appearance changes completely. When meeting the dan- cers in private the former extreme transformation seems illusive. The domi- nant style of the dancing competitors does not correspond with their private choice: „When I am preparing to go out I am dressing myself in a completely different way. When I am dancing I only adapt to the other dancers.“
