Whilst this is not a 3D piece, I have done some 3D modelling before, using programs like Hexagon 2.5. And therefore considered the principal behind meshing to help with how I would place my shapes. No illustrator filters or extra aids have been used to create the triangles. They have all been placed by hand! Eventually, I lost count of the number of hours this piece took!
I took the conscious decision to keep the placement of the triangles quite loose on the face.
Where as with clothing I started to define a more rigid structure.
