Photographer Nick Meek asked Recom Farmhouse London to collaborate on “My Beautiful Laundrette”, creating huge and beautiful CG bubbles to float through his atmospheric shots of small-town America.
We blew real life bubbles to study the gently wobbling movements and whirling colours, and then let our soapy, fragile creations drift, bulge and bounce in Nick’s empty, sunlit streets. Careful compositing and colour grading unites the subtle rippling rainbow of the bubbles with the open, quiet sunlit streets.
“The fragile perfection of the bubbles is at an immediate contrast to the gritty environment and once they collide they’re gone forever.
Sometimes we can see America as a giant film set where the line between what’s real and what’s make believe can be a thin one.
