It's day 7 "at least one post a day" challenge ! I slept in today and got inspired by @/thelittlefatrat's jackalope sketch and I sketched my own. Thank you for the support and go check them out (instagram and tumblr)!
If you wish to recreate I suggest:
• using a thin paper that isn't high quality if you're a beginner
• art is about practice and making mistakes so don't be afraid of throwing out a few papers
• using a pencil that's on the harder side like most commonly used HB and using softer ones for details like B2
• references help understand how an object (in this case animal) presents itself, maintains balance etc.
• The appearance of a jackalope is mostly reminiscent of a jackrabbit, also known as a hare, however, the one thing that separates the jackalope from the mundane jackrabbit are the pronged, antelope-like horns growing from their scalps.
• Male horns are slightly bigger than females, and the kits lack full horns, however, they do have small bumps on their heads where the horns will sprout later in life.
