In 2010, all of the members of the Justice League simultaneously and independently decided to retire. But they didn't want to leave the Earth unprotected. So they immediately began looking for replacements. A recently reformed villain decided to help them with their search and recommended that six of his best henchmen take over their roles in the Justice League.
