Mission:
To work with any State Department of Transportation or public agency responsible for local streets, to develop and submit to the Federal Highway Administration, a 'Request to Experiment' consistent with the provisions of the MUTCD.
Potholes cost U.S. commuters millions of dollars annually due to expenses associated with repairs and related injuries. Whether it’s budgets, available workers, weather, or unidentified causes, the reality is that there are situations that prevent immediate pothole repair. In the interim, what can be done to help ensure public safety regarding potholes?
Public-works departments nationwide can easily implement a Pothole Warning System.
As temporary signage, the PWS alerts commuters to major oncoming road hazards.
In addition, the signage can easily be moved from major pothole to major pothole as needed.
The PWS signage is not intended to be used for every pothole, only those that can’t be fixed immediately and are capable of causing injury and/ or damage.
