Hostile Architecture - Booklet

Hostile Architecture
I was presented with the proposal to create an awareness campaign for a social cause of our choice, addressing the
ethical issue of design.
Personally, I found it relevant to address the issue of hostile architecture and the problems it raises, as I believe that neither design nor architecture should be designed with the intention of being obstructive or hostile.
The project aimed to use design to address the social cause of raising awareness about hostile architecture, as it is a serious problem that affects people's lives globally, but is often ignored or unknown.
Hostile architecture generally refers to a design that is intentionally or unintentionally created to be obstructive or uncomfortable, directly affecting the use of public spaces, leisure activities, socializing, privacy, security, etc. The most popular examples are often related to homeless people or skaters, as they are usually the target audience of hostile architecture and therefore the most affected by it.
This work seeks to convey a strong informative character through research of images, articles, interviews, and reports on hostile design, with the aim of conveying its negative impact and preventing its spread. With awareness of this type of architecture and through visualization of my project, I believe people will develop a new awareness of how public spaces should be enjoyed and how something that has an aesthetic character can be so obstructive.
All information collected is credited in the project and is gathered in the campaign itself through a QR code (link):

Visually, I sought to explore anti-design as a way of conveying the discomfort of hostile architecture.
Therefore, I used techniques such as distortion and visual fragmentation to create a sense of imbalance and discomfort.
