Decades Patterns

For this assignment I chose the Post-Modernist era, but I decided to focus on a specific decade. That decade that I decided to look further into was the 1960’s Psychedelic movement. This movement did deal with a lot of shapes, some geometric and some organic depending on how each artist went about with their designs.  They also dealt with a lot of bright colors that many would see as ‘trippy’”. With my designs I did go with one that is more free flowing with the wavy lines that many would see in the more “trippy’” looking designs while the other two deal more with the geometric shapes that look like flowers and showcase the bright colors this movement was known for.  The reason I chose this movement is partly due to the music and media I  consumed as I grew up with things like the Beatles, Jimi Hendrix, and more posters or shirts you would see in beach shops in Panama City Beach, Florida like Beatniks and Purple Haze, or even Junkman’s Daughter in Atlanta. I have always enjoyed the strangeness in the art and design from that era especially for the music posters and studio music albums.
