This is a submission for the cover of the 2023 Art and Literary Magazine at my school. The cover was inspired by printing presses and the print markings that can be found on many printed things. I used CMYK colors for the text to include more print-related themes and used the empty space to add various print markings. The patterns used in some of the words (the lines and dots) are new for me and expanded my "inventory" of things I can include in designs, and it reminded me of printing marks to test different opacities.

To create the desired effects with the text, I created the text layout in Adobe Illustrator and then added the color and print markings in Adobe Photoshop.
