Midsummer Novelty is a Typeface Specimen book for Centennial, designed by Adrian Frutiger in 1986. The theme of this book is based on a magazine line called “The Century Illustrated Monthly Magazine”, which was the font’s name was based on. The book displays typographic elements from 1800’s books, including drop caps, decorative frames, and lines that split the text. There are many images that contributed to the Midsummer edition of the Century magazines. The book was created using light heavyweight paper for pages and glossy goldenrod paper for the cover, despite the cover being mostly blue.
