Animating and Lip Syncing Project

FINAL VIDEO
Project objective:-
Animating and Lip Syncing with audio completely out of context to the original clip from where the audio is taken from.

Audio was taken from the film "Pump Up the Volume" (1990). This line was acted out by Christian Slater as Mark Hunter in the film.

1) Character provided by MIT ADT Animation Department.
2) Character animation and asset creation on Maya Autodesk.
3) Texturing and Painting on Substance Painter.

REFERENCE
According to the objective,
I wanted to create a context that this line was shared upon a personal conversation between 2 people. The person who is conveying the line initially should seem to have pure intentions, but as he nears the end of the line, his expressions convey that he has different motives and means ill.

Hence when my character leans in, his expression changes from caring to mischievous.
KEYFRAMES
I started out with the keyframes, marking the major motions on the timeline. Starting out like this gave me an initial idea of the wider movement pattern of my character. Fixing the main movement pattern during the initial keyframing process ensured that every minor movement I make in the next phases of the project development will only contribute to making the movement look as natural as possible.
IN-BETWEENS
This phase in the development process made the animation significantly believable. The neck movement and the breathing was worked more upon in this phase of development. Expressions were majorly refined here.
SPLINING
Its in this phase that I decided to add an extra hand motion with the fingers tapping on the table. The refinement in this phase was with the intent to project the character and concerned and kind of angry in the beginning, but then becoming mischievous towards the end. Body movements were refined to the max.
FINAL
This phase is where I painted assets and the model with substance painter. The vibe I had to create was of a minimalistic home and the conversation taking place during the evening time. All the lighting was done in this phase.

Thank you so much for viewing this project.
