Lycée du Nord

I was recently approached by the Physical and Sports Education teachers of the "Lycée du Nord" of Mayotte to create a new logo for the High School.
The objective of this team of teachers is to revitalize the school through the development of new activities but also accessories / clothing to strengthen the feeling of unity of students.
In this objective, the first step was to create a new visual identity for the school.
When I thought about designing this logo, the team of teachers already had some ideas in mind and we agreed that it should include the flagship elements of Mayotte's culture.
So I created this logo, including the distinctive elements of the island: the Maki (small monkey symbol of cleverness), the Shark (symbol of strength), the paddles (for the aquatic side of the island) and the shapes on the sea evoking the islands which form Mayotte.
The small geometric shape above the circle represents the old logo which reminds the architecture of the houses in Mayotte.
The colors were chosen to reflect the warm and welcoming atmosphere of the island.
