POSTER DESIGN - THE CAT IN THE HAT

THE CAT IN THE HAT : TESSELATION WORKSHOP
The Cat In The Hat is a famous children’s illustration book about a boy and his sister Sally who faced temptation from The Cat In the Hat to play around the house when their mother is out. The story illustrated many bold, bright and whimsical patterns to indulge and reinforce the feeling of playfulness, repeatedly tempting the children to play.
In the story, both temptation and resistance are going against each other, creating tension, whereby either can overtake the other, leading to a dynamic relationship. Thus, using the concept of positive/negative design, emphasise the tension through strong contrast. This poster is designed to promote a tessellation family workshop at the NLB library to inspire children through play.
