I built a server with Node.js that uses the easymidi library to receive MIDI commands from a companion Angular web app. Controls like dials, sliders and buttons can be configured in a modular fashion to send MIDI notes to music production software.

By building the server and serving the web app from there, it means that you can easily customise your own MIDI controller on any device and use it over WIFI.
