Ames Room (Media Installation)

I’ve had the most fun working on this project, but it did come with some challenges in terms of getting the "illusion" to work as it should. With the Ames Room, every wall and every angle was crucial. After building the entire frame, the entire thing was completely off, and I couldn't get the windows to line up, so the illusion began falling apart piece by piece, and every time I fixed something, another fell apart. Thankfully, I was able to 3D print the model that I'd originally designed to help me build the room, having a solid plan really saved me this time.

To make the stand, I cut out a piece of wood, sanded and spray painted it, and glued the black and white tiles. I also spray painted and carved the title onto a smaller piece of wood. I made miniature chess origami pieces, but I hated how they turned out, so I made tiny lollipop-sized illustrations, cut them out, and glued them back-to-back to give them that 3D effect.
