Cosmogony Textile Design

The inspirations for my designs come from my love of history.  I discovered Art Deco through my studies here at the University of South Dakota.  Art Deco is a distinctive style that demands attention; it caught my attention.  Art Deco was created during a time when America was incredibly creative; I want to create.  My designs combine Art Deco, and my love for fashion and textile designs.
The firm in this exhibition is Cosmogony.  Cosmogony is a high-end textile design firm that provides fashion accessories for women who love pattern and Art Deco.  The discovery of Tutankhamen’s tomb inspired Art Deco.  This particular collection is themed upon the Art Deco reflection of the Egyptian deities who represent the sun, moon and stars.  Art Deco and the 1920s dramatically changed fashion and the attitude of women.  Therefore, Cosmogony reflects the independence and exuberance of the 1920s women.
Art Deco jewlery was included in this exhibition to bring the textiles more of a tactile feel.  Jewlery courtesy of Alison Galbraith
This watch packaging design is from a previous project at my time in USD
The textile design was included on silk head scarves.
