'Bastardising Religion'

'Bastardising Religion' is a photographic documentation of how Northern Irish citizens have, for the past several decades, taken Christianity and torn it apart, divided it, killing as many as 3,526 people between 1969 and 2001.  Catholics and Protestants believe in the same God, are both a part of Christianity, yet grow up in this country with such hatred for their neighbours, a hatred that has led to devastating sectarianism.

These images focus on one of the 54 'Peace Line's' still in Northern Ireland.  The aim of these walls is to divide the communities in an attempt to control violence between them- the walls have gates which are locked at night and during times of trouble.  They are huge intimidating structures which have somehow managed to become a tourist attraction in their own right, with people coming from all over to scrawl their messages to the people of Northern Ireland on them.
