A cover for young-adult novel about a cat-man and a young girl and their adventure together, the publishers and I originally though we had hit the nail on the head with a stock image that seemed made for this cover. However, we accidentally discovered that that image had also just been used for an American cat food advertisement, and we then felt that rather than have a generic stock image again, the book called for a custom illustration. I created a digital illustration for it, after re-reading the book and choosing the most evocative image. The typesetting was as straightforward as most novels are.
