In late February I learned that one of my closest friends from high school and throughout college was diagnosed with leukemia.  It was as much a shock to him as it was to my friends and I.  This was the first time our close nit group of friends was challenged with something so serious.  We all gave our condolences and began to pray.  I immediately wanted to learn more about the disease and what it was doing to my friend.

         Wikipedia gave me a basic overview and I began to learn more about leukemia, it's symptoms, and how to combat it.  So after some thought and a little bit of council among friends, we started Andy's Army:

Raising money for Andy Meschwitz, who has been diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia. Donations will help fund his medical expenses.
 

                  Whether you know Andy (Andrew Meschwitz) personally or not, it's safe to say that he has had a significant impact on everyone he has crossed paths with. Now it's our turn to have a lasting impact on his. On February 21, 2014, Andy was diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia, which requires immediate treatment. Andy has been tranferred to MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas where he will begin his five-day chemotherapy treatments followed by a four-week stay in the hospital.
 

            As we all know, chemotherapy treatment and hospital stays are very expensive, but that doesn't begin to scratch the surface of the hardships that something like this can bring. This fundraiser is meant to not only aid in Andy's chemotherapy treatments, but to also alleviate the financial strain this may put on the Meschwitz family.
 

                Whatever monetary donation you can offer for this family is greatly appreciated, but don't let it stop there. Andy has requested that everyone keep him in their thoughts and prayers as he goes through this process.
