Ma'Cile's Museum of Miscellanea in Gordo, AL presented an exhibit of Southern (mostly!) cryptozoology in August 2013. I chose the exhibit theme, researched, gathered and/or created materials, and hung the exhibit. I also planned the entire event, from advertising to treats and activities. It was well-received (as a matter of fact, Bigfoot decided to stay!).
The Bigfoot section of the exhibit also included a map of Bigfoot sightings in Alabama, a listing of the sightings, details about sightings in Pickens County (that's where Gordo is...), Alabama Native American legends relating to "The Hairy Man", size charts, and a discussion of proof of existence.
The following brochure was handed out to all visitors. Near each cryptid was a container with 1-in round stickers related to that cryptid for visitors to collect and add to their "Field Observation Guide."
All exhibits at the Museum include a free treats and a related art activity. For the cryptozoology exhibit, visitors enjoyed monster do-nuts and made ink-splotch monsters to take home with them.
