The blue-and-gold macaw, is a large South American parrot with mostly blue top parts and light orange underparts, with gradient hues of green on top of its head. It is a member of the large group of neotropical parrots known as macaws.
Usually found in pairs, which fly together and perch in the canopy. Can gather in small groups, especially at fruiting trees or clay licks. Nests in cavities. Communicates with high raucous calls. It is a highly social bird with an average lifespan of 30+ years. A healthy macaw can live upto 70 years!!
